Story:
Few days in Liberty Falls history will be remembered with as much fanfare as the morning when City Hall was dedicated! As its architect, James Earl proclaimed, “This is a structure that will stand for centuries as a monument to the ambition, spirit and drive of the citizens of Liberty Falls.” Mayor Willie Griffin paid tribute to his predecessor, the town’s first Mayor Paul Johnson, “Who inspired us to create a City Hall worthy of our vision for a thriving Liberty Falls in the 20th century.”
After the ribbon was cut, citizens scurried to be among the first to tour the Hall with its marble staircase, carved wood banisters, portraits of Territorial Governor John Evans and Mayor Johnson—and even a mural showing the diversity of Liberty Falls industry and commerce. Then Mayor Griffin, Clerk Buster Clark, and other town officials moved into their new offices and commenced governing with a bit more flair and self-importance than they ever could have mustered in their previous, cramped quarters in the basement of the Liberty Falls Courthouse.
